What Is The Foundation?
The Teton County Library Foundation was established
in 1982 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization to raise and manage funds
to be used solely for the purpose of enhancing library programs, resources
and services.
The mission of the Library Foundation is to enable
the Teton County Library to realize its mission by generating financial
support above and beyond what tax monies can provide. The Foundation
accomplishes its mission through raising, receiving, administering and
disbursing funds, grants, bequests and gifts. In addition to providing
support for the Library, the Foundation assists in identifying and sponsoring
programs and enhancements that enrich the offerings of the Teton County
Library and add to the cultural life of the community.
All contributions to the Library Foundation are tax deductible and
are used to fund or to help fund specific Library needs, which are determined
by the Library Foundation Board and the Library Board of Directors.
The Library Foundation has a special public-private relationship with
the community. Tax monies provide for the library building and its maintenance,
staff salaries and a core collection of materials. Beyond that, through
private contributions, the Library Foundation supplements roughly 10
percent of the Library's overall budget to support enriched programs,
technology enhancements, collection development and library services
to the residents of Teton County. Supplemental funding is necessary
for the library to meet the increased demands for library services.
It is through private support that the Teton County Library can continue
as a community leader providing information, ideas and inspiration.
