Programs
(93) Comments:
I have attended some fabulous programs in the outdoor area behind the library. -Outdoor concerts, kids’ art activities, kick offs for the summer reading program etc. I hope you will be able to maintain some of that wonderful space in addition to expanding the building that direction. It is a wonderful thing to have great outdoor spaces for programs that are noisy, messy, or involve kids running around.
TCL Programming ROCKS and has set a very high bar for all the other libraries in the state with their incredible FREE programming available for all ages and interests. Utilizing all indoor and outdoor spaces continues to expand the lists of possibilites. Can’t wait to see what you have planned and where you take it in the future!
More computer, I-Pod, cellphone (I-Phone) programs like Facebook, Excel, etc. Not just for Spanish, but some of us old folks as well.
Video game creator. Wow!
Cool graffiti programs. Video games…more games because you guys keep putting the same games over and over again.
More programs for teens.
The Library should play teen movies after school in the auditorium. Also they should have “game days” where people come to play games after school, like: soccer, football, and capture the flag.
Junior librarian club - teach kids how to be librarians.
Would like to see internet technology classes to help small businesses develop. Things like web design, or ideas on free internet sites that help with this or other business development topics. Consider offering the classes during off season (April/May, October/November) because offering them in the summer is a bad time since that’s when business is in full swing.
Went to the Paul Krugman event - the sound bounced off the walls. Perhaps something to absorb sound. Also, padded seats in the auditorium.
Your programs are terrific however often there isn’t adequate parking so you can’t actually attend. Also, sometimes I’m coming to use library services and there’s a program that I’m not attending and again I can’t find a place to park.
Also in the summer the RVs park while waiting to get into the campground across the street and take up several spaces.
Keep up the good work with programs—fix the parking.
Love the kids programs.
1. To integrate immigrants (workers)
2. Dance & cooking classes
3. Healthy living classes
Free or inexpensive Spanish lessons.
Your famous writers program in wonderful. Keep up the good work.
- Some glass, some completely enclosed
- More modern
Kids crafts can be had at the new, big art center.
need a larger community room
better exhibit space. current space is not conducive to viewing the great exhibits.
The library should seek to have programs at aren’t available elsewhere in the community—art, dance and cooking can be had elsewhere—more book discussions, provocative exhibits not duplicated by the art center or historical society. Keep up the good work! Thanks
Another community room, potentially with a rubber floor for those messy kids crafts (from a volunteer who has participated in many clean-ups!). Also potentially with an oven, sink, and counter in one corner to make it more of a community room and utilize the above suggestions of cooking classes, etc.
Comments from Public Forum 10/19/09 about Programs
-Ongoing book sale adjacent to café!
-Permanent book sale area
-Libraries for intellectual stimulation, not visual stimulation
-Leased out cyber café
-Café with drinks and snacks – not full restaurant
-Coffee shop (could be operated by private biz for friends i.e. airport restaurant)
-Library and Retail – should not directly compete with local business
-Need better gallery/exhibit area
-Make space for traveling exhibits
-Local artists exhibit space
-Combine exhibit gallery with auditorium entrance
-Comfortable chairs for auditorium
-Flexible program space with comfortable seating
-Not only do we need more computers, but we need training classes for computer programs
-Glassed classroom - great idea
Children’s reading hour could use a better space. More room for toddler hours.
Better chairs
Larger space - perhaps able to be divided
Several smaller spaces
An additional children’s program area
Quieter kids, maybe enclosed?
I really enjoy the Foreign Affairs discussions and literary presentations. More of the same, please! Thank you.
Clear “links” between what we advertise in the paper and how to find out more on the website. For example, “relocation.“
Programs are great. I wish I had more time to attend more of them. Need larger space for programs so people are not turned away.
Expand auditorium.
Expand this room - Auditorium.
I work a lot so don’t have time to attend programs. If I did have time I’d be interested in refreshing my computer skills. I’d also be interested in programs about other cultures.
Always notice we have lots of programs, but haven’t had time to attend. Keep book sale ongoing.
need more parking—i’ve stopped coming as often because there’s no place to park
while we all hope to drive less, i don’t live where the buses run and it’s too far to walk or bike
please don’t just do the minimum parking or pay the fees to get out of it—keep the library accessible to all!!
A program maybe a computer so that you could send a message to our armed forces.
More kid programs.
Bigger story-time room that has utility for activities and programs also.
No opinion, other than they seem fine as is, to my knowledge.
Warmer looking - deep reds.
Love what you are doing.
Spaces are fine, and the programs themselves (particularly visiting writers) are first class.
Wii - we have our own, but it’s more fun when Steve is there (at the Senior Center)
Larger program space. More comfortable chairs - keeps me from going sometimes because the chairs now are so uncomfortable. Grand kids use all the time.
I receive the monthly email from the library. Please make sure all events are included in the monthly calendar. For example, I would have liked to attend the Slow Foods event on Friday, but I don’t think it was included in the email.
I’m excited about the technology classess offered at the library like Photoshop. Please consider adding classes on Mac applications because sometimes the instruction that is offered doesn’t carry over when I use my Mac.
Storytimes - Maybe have these more than once a week for kids older than toddler age.
I enjoy the space for public events at the library. The auditorium and conference rooms are appropriate sizes for some programs, but it seems that we’re outgrowing these spaces for programs that attract larger audiences, like the audience for Writer’s Conference speakers. Think about a larger space as more public events that have larger audiences grow.
More toddler programs would definitely be popular.
Ordway Auditorium is pretty small. You’ll probably be making a larger space.
I appreciate the computer classes that the library offers.
Please continue the foreign affairs programs, computer workshops like Photoshop, how to build a web page, how to set up a Facebook space. How about adding some programs on different cultures, including Native American, and bring in natives of those cultures. Also, Spanish/English classes where native speakers of each language work together to complete assignments and converse.
More book clubs!
Keep the children’s space as is, or enlarge it for more space for babies and parents to hang-out and play. Storytime space is very good - keep it - good size, cozy, but big enough for lots of kids and space for them to wander around.
Bigger room for toddler time, story time.
The kid’s reading program area, needs to be bigger. It is very disappointing when you bundle your 2 year up to go to story time and when you get there you find out that there isn’t any room left and it is filled to capacity, how do you explain that to a toddler?
I love that the library offers so many great programs and also opens up program spaces to the community. I see a great need for more and larger program spaces to meet the library’s and community’s needs.
I love the famous writers programs, especially when they are not held in the library. I have seen so many famous authors right here is Jackson Hole. The ORD auditorium programs are good but the chairs feel hard after an hour of sitting.
The computer lessons are a great tool for learning software programs, and having Steve available for follow-up questions is so helpful. Thanks.
They are good. Don’t change.
Enjoy kid programs. Keep it up - happy with services.
Love the Toddler Times. This is the first time I’ve brought my granddaughter. At first she was a little nervous, but by the end she was clapping along with the teacher - keep offering and expanding.
Work with bringing together the generations young and old.
Use the Wilson Community Center as an extension of the library.
Perhaps some programs that would benefitt small business or allow people to share information. Maybe some marketing programs, sales, bookkeeping skills.
Lounge chairs would make them more comfortable.
Ni idea. Nunca he entrado al auditorio!
The spaces are good. More and diverse speakers would be great.
You’re doing fine. Kids story hour is important.
Encourage children who are in library for long periods of time to read first and then use computer. Maybe an incentive program. Perhaps reading and/or homework first, computers second. More restrictions on how many hours per week the library can be a daycare center for each family.
The program spaces are fine.
Haven’t attended one. Toddler Storytime space is great.
I would like bigger program spaces. I think it would benefit the library in multiple ways.
You should add lofts and more space.
Lock in movie nights.
Meeting place where we could talk and nobody else would listen.
Comfortable chairs in big circle.
Skate club, rock climbing club.
I truly believ the Library has done an exceptional job with their programs, which is why i was dismayed to find out the Latino program was “dissolved”. Each time i visit, it is clear that the TCL is a resource that is invaluable to our Hispanic population, ANYTHING we can do support them and ultimately blend our community together better should be an asset and not be on the chopping block.
The Toddler Time and Storybook time is sadly not working…“we” should never have to close the door on a citizen with a child in their arms…if its space and we should consider the population boom we are experiencing in the 0-5yrs old range, then this is the time to offer more flex space to handle more kids and parents/caregivers. Flexibility is key.
Build your own car.
I come to the kids programs with my grandchildren. We need more of them. Creative programs - art programs.
We should have a junior cliff diver’s association.
More teen movies (on a large screen for movies)
Popcorn machine
Information about school system in Spanish.
Outdoor games
I don’t know what your program place is but you should add bean bags. Bean bags make everything better!
Good.
more bean bags.
I think they are great - I’m sure that more space would be utilized though.
I didn’t even know you had program space.
They would need to get better.
Se necesitan areas mas grandes. Tener mas salones disponibles y un auditorio mas amplio.
