  • It would be nice if the library had space to be lound on computers and other computers dedicated for quiet work.

Betsy commented on 10/19  at  11:59 PM

  • It would be great if there were a couple laptops for checkout for library use only so people interested in quiet work could take a laptop to a quiet corner rather than trying to work in the noisy computer area.

lynne commented on 10/28  at  08:36 PM

  • Is it possible to put the computers into a room of their own, maybe with a door?  The clicking of the computer keys does bother me.

Juli commented on 10/29  at  10:48 AM

  • A seperate buzz friendly room.  Cellphones set to vibrate would be allowed.  People often need access to phones while on the computer to make plane reservations. Library use laptops for quiet corners would make a nice compliment to technological needs..

Craig Kneeland commented on 10/30  at  05:26 AM

  • A technology lab set up for robot construction and related instruction is recommended. Learners would use laptops and robot kits. The instructor would require a projector surface easily visible from workstations, each station accommodating 2-3 students. A larger demonstration table is also needed for students to demonstrate completed projects.

There is a demand for pleasurable, focused, interactive, technology learning of the type afforded by robots. The science, math, and language skills developed from interactive projects have been demonstrated. Often there is not this kind of public space available elsewhere, including school classrooms. This recommendation is from a robotics instructor who is often throwing together this type of lab setting within elementary school classrooms. I’m available for further details. Craig

  • It would be nice to have some Apple computers available for the Internet center—both the 15-minute/short-term and one-hour/longer-term usage.  Apple computers are more ‘user-friendly’ for media applications, like video, pictures, graphics, etc.

joel commented on 11/05  at  04:06 PM

  • Would the library add a place for me to use my iTunes?

From paper comment form commented on 11/06  at  10:53 AM

  • I took classes for computers, but they weren’t applicable to my computer.

Staff at CIC are very helpful.  Continue to have staff to help with computer issues.

  • More classes on internet technology.

Glenn commented on 11/07  at  11:50 AM

  • Keep technology updated. Add more bandwidth, without enough bandwidth the internet is useless. The library needs more bandwidth. It’s awesome that you have wi-fi.

From paper comment form commented on 11/09  at  11:59 AM

  • 1. To add special sections for extensive researches. (Time available on the computer.)
    2. Web site instruction of English and how the US system works.

From paper comment form commented on 11/09  at  04:42 PM

  • Have private computer stations so you can work alone.

From paper comment form commented on 11/09  at  04:52 PM

    - Interactive TVs/touchscreens
    - Video games
    - Video editing - you tube downloading

Senior Center Input Session commented on 11/09  at  09:54 PM

  • More computers for patrons.  People often have to wait too long to get on a computer.

Carissa commented on 11/10  at  09:31 AM

  • Internet connection seems slow some days - faster speeds might allow more people to utilize the internet computers and reduce the need to purchase more computers.
    Thanks.

Ed Cheramy commented on 11/10  at  10:44 AM

  • Although I personally like the feel of “real books” I also know that the kindle reading devices are a coming fact of like.  I suggest you experiment with them first, the acquire more if the demand is warranted.

Senior Center Input Session commented on 11/10  at  12:48 PM

  • There needs to be more computer space with new technology, maybe add some Apple computers.

Charlotte commented on 11/10  at  06:33 PM

  • I would love to see the online experience for searching and requesting books updated. I find the online catalog is not as easy to use as one would expect (keyword searches rarely turn up the book I’m looking for) and online hold requests could be improved by letting us know how many holds are already in line.
    Thanks!

Jon commented on 11/10  at  08:00 PM

  • Thanks for the chance to give input. I suggest you keep the internet connection fast. A few times lately it seems to bog down in the afternoon when I’ve been there.

Michelle commented on 11/10  at  09:49 PM

  • My suggestion does not require any additional space, just investment. The search engine for the catalogs is woeful. I suggest new software altogether.

Peter L commented on 11/11  at  06:46 AM

  • You need to plan for computers and their infrastructure.  This building was not designed for computers, so the wiring is a mess.  You need to recognize that computers are a big part of people’s lives.

Use technology and software to simplify things for patrons at the computers.  Make it easier to get your printouts. Use the software instead of having a staff member just sitting there.  You will save lots more money that way.

from paper comment commented on 11/15  at  06:07 PM

  • I have no technology needs.  As a traditional reader I have watched the transition from library to multimedia information center with regret and dismay.  The new media spaces are bustling with activity, so you are clearly responding to the needs of your new constituency.  But his busy building seems less and less like a library.

  • More computers.

From paper comment form commented on 11/16  at  05:08 PM

  • The library is meeting my technology needs more than adequately.

Lokey commented on 11/16  at  06:48 PM

  • I don’t really like to see the reference section shrink but I know that many resources are switching over to electronic media. I appreciate very much the ability to access some of the library’s electronic reference materials through the internet from home (with my library card) so that I don’t have to use a computer at the library. Perhaps this could be expanded. Please keep carrying the Novels for Students series. The library is missing some volumes. Is it possible to acquire the missing volumes? (hard or electronic?)

From paper comment form commented on 11/17  at  09:33 AM

Besty commented on 11/22  at  04:46 PM

  • The present computer area is one of the most heavily used areas of the Library.  I think it is unfortunate that is is located in the very exposed, central open core of the building.  The space and the furnishings are not conducive to the efficient configuration of machines and its central location contributes greatly to an atmosphere of commotion in the Library.  People have to pass through the area to reach most of the collections and study areas and its presence has overshadowed and possibly discouraged the professional reference services also available at the Information Desk.  I think an actual Computer Center - designed to accommodate many computers, out of the mainstream traffic, where noise and commotion are expected, where classes can be efficiently taught - is what’s urgently called for.
