Director’s Take: Library Addition Project Will Go To Voters
Our project is now at $8.45 million for construction costs, including furniture and equipment, to add space for our collections, quiet/study, programs, teens and technology.
An important component of the project in addition to the new construction will be the replacement and upgrading of old building systems in the existing library.
Just one step remains before the ballot is finalized. The Commissioners and Council must agree about whether to add funds for future operations and maintenance of the larger facility. Right now, they are considering including enough money to cover the additional costs of the new space for 5 years.
Meanwhile, I’m quietly celebrating this first important step on the road to getting a much needed library addition for our community.
