Addition and Renovation Construction Ready to Launch

Jackson, WY- Teton County Library’s voter-approved addition and renovation which will create more space for library materials, reading areas, computers and a family wing is ready to launch. Beginning the first week of August, crews will begin mobilizing and preparing the library and grounds for construction. The community is invited to a launch celebration Thursday, Aug. 25 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., as kids and teens “Imagine How You Will Grow with Teton County Library!” See event details in the timeline below.

The construction project will be making some noticeable changes to the library in the next few months, including:

Construction manager GE Johnson will be renovating the library parking lot for approximately two months, from the end of August through the end of October. All library parking will temporarily move to the vacant lot on the west side of the library, and the current parking lot and adjacent sidewalk along Virginian Lane will be closed for this two-month period. Entrance to the temporary library parking lot and access to the building entrance by vehicles and pedestrians will be located on Snow King Avenue next to the START Bus Stop (#47 County Library).

Library addition and renovation construction will take approximately 15-18 months. The library will continue to serve the public throughout the project, maintaining its regular hours, seven days a week, with the exception of occasional closures over holidays or long weekends, including the upcoming Labor Day weekend. The library will close five days Saturday, Sept. 3 through Wednesday, Sept. 7 to rearrange the interior spaces and make room for construction and will resume regular library hours Thursday, Sept. 8, opening at 10 a.m.

Beginning Sept. 8, the library’s main entrance will temporarily move to the northwest corner of the building, currently the staff entrance, while the new entrance is configured and constructed. Signage will direct library patrons from the temporary parking lot to the temporary entrance.
