Director’s Take: Library Submits SPET Application
Every day I see how much our community members need the library. The library is bursting at the seams with people filling out job applications and resumes online using our computers. Other residents are checking out more books than ever to fulfill their information and research needs. Parents and caregivers fill the auditorium for weekly early childhood literacy opportunities. Students pack the youth services after school to do their homework. So not a day goes by without me seeing how important the library is to serving the essential functions of so many people’s daily lives.
I believe that our board and architects have been very responsible in listening to the community and mapping out the best way to serve those needs, now and into the future. We’ve looked at the most efficient design possible to maximize the flexibility of the building, at the same time we are providing adequate space for specific priorities for collections, quiet/study, programs, technology and teens. It’s a challenge I believe we have met well.
It has been such a privilege to work with so many talented and dedicated people on this project. And I include the many great community members who have contributed their input to designing a library to meet the needs of our residents. I look forward to continuing to present our work to you—the community—and to hearing your thoughts.
Thanks for your ongoing support of the library!
