Newly Paved Library Lot Is Open!
Teton County Library’s newly renovated parking lot opened at the end of October, with more spaces for library patrons and improved access for disabled visitors.
The redesigned and repaved parking lot is accessible from Virginian Lane. The parking area is directly connected to the library’s current temporary entrance, previously the staff entrance. Pedestrians may also access the library from Virginian Lane by following the signs and arrows!
As part of the parking lot renovation, 700 tons of asphalt have been recycled and reused, along with 300 tons of concrete. The Library Board is planning for green building LEED certification for the voter-approved library addition and renovation. Ultimately, the parking area renovation will create more spaces for library users, improve traffic flow and allow for handicap and senior parking spaces next to the building, making the library more accessible for all patrons.
The voter-approved library construction project includes building an 11,000-square-foot addition and renovating the existing 24,000-square-foot building, parking lot and outdoor areas. The building project will create more space for library materials, reading and study, computers and technology, community meeting rooms, and teen and children’s areas. The library’s existing building systems will be replaced or modified to increase energy efficiency.
