What’s All the Buzz Behind the Temporary Wall?
Jackson, WY- Wondering what might be happening behind the temporary wall installed in Teton County Library’s main wing? GE Johnson workers have been digging up the concrete to lay the final set of power and data lines at the library, another step toward upgrading technology at the library as part of our addition and renovation. Crews have gone out of their way to keep the ruckus to a minimum for readers and studiers by sending in workers early (5 a.m.!) to do the noisiest work before the library opens.
This fall, with the start of school and the reopening of the library, Steve Whisenand and D. Gifford toured middle school classes through our new youth wing and main wing, where construction is still underway. Kids got a chance to learn about banned books, what services librarians can provide for them, and the many new computers, gaming stations and study rooms available to them in our new space. You can follow the students on their tour with Whisenand, Teton Program Coordinator, and Gifford, Youth Services Manager, and see how the library’s interior spaces are evolving by checking out the slideshow on our addition page, tclib.org/addition.
Although the library renovation will not be complete until February 2013, some collections have already moved into their new, permanent homes, including our nonfiction, fiction, mystery and science fiction books and our audio-visual collection. So come browse through our DVDs, from documentaries to spaghetti westerns, and our books on CD, from self help to humor.
Need to study for an exam or meet with a partner for a creative collaboration? We now have three new study rooms open to the public for tutoring, test proctoring and other uses. We also have new desks to serve patrons in both the main and youth wings.
