Moving Day for Alta Branch
Moving Day is coming soon to the Alta Branch Library! We are only a month away from when we need to start closing up the bookmobile and getting settled into the new branch library. Can you believe we are almost there?!!
The bookmobile will be closed starting on Monday, November 16 so that library staff can focus on getting the shelves, books, computers, etc. moved into the building. We’ll be spending the two weeks from November 16 through 30 preparing everything in the new branch library. Please help us with the transition by keeping your books a little longer during that time.
I feel pretty confident that we are going to meet our target date for opening on Tuesday, December 1. Keep your fingers crossed with me that all goes well with our final inspections and certificate of occupancy.
The hours for the new library will be:
Tuesday 12 - 6 p.m.
Wednesday 12 - 6 p.m.
Thursday 12 - 6 p.m.
Saturday 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
I recognize and apologize that the Alta Branch will still be at reduced hours. The library continues to experience several staff vacancies as a result of the tighter budget situation across the County. One of those vacancies is a part-time Alta Library Assistant. Gretchen has picked up some of the hours, but she simply can’t work them all. As soon as the economic conditions improve, I’ll be looking to fill that position again. I appreciate your understanding of the situation.
Meanwhile, I’d like to focus on this wonderful library that is about to open up for the community. I can’t wait for you all to see it in its full glory and to enjoy using it!
