Public Art to Communicate Curiosities via Fiber Optics

Artist team Brian Brush and Yong Ju Lee emerged as the top choice out of 448 applicants to create a public art installation in the new entrance & lobby of the Teton County Library. The Teton County Library Board approved the library Public Art Selection Panel’s recommendation of Brush and Lee’s project concept “Filament Mind” at the Board’s public meeting Thursday, April 26. Brush and Lee’s “Filament Mind” is a human-driven installation designed to capture and display collective curiosities, in real time through a dynamic and interactive sculpture of fiber optic cables. The cables signify the connections between the world beyond and the minds of each visitor exploring that world through the library.

Installing Floor for New Wing & Beginning Prep for Parking Lane

The raised floor for the Children & Teens wing has arrived; it will take about two weeks to install. You can see where the short-term parking/drop lane will be next to the new library entrance because our General Contractor, GE Johnson, has begun excavating & laying base for the lane. The new trees and shrubs for the entrance area will probably not arrive until later next week. They have started budding at their current location and if the landscaper moves them too soon, they may get nipped in a freeze here! GE Johnson will begin prep work for the lighting along the pathway to the bus stop next week. Installation of the metal roof starts next week as well as sheet rocking the auditorium.

Library Irrigation and Backyard Canopy Go In

Construction Manager GE Johnson is starting the reinstallation of the irrigation system and creating a new trash enclosure. On the west side of the Children & Teens wing, the foundations for the canopy are going in. We are reusing the old entrance canopy frame and refitting it to help create shade for the west windows as well as being something of a "stage" area for outdoor programming. Grading for the drainage basin on the south side starts the week of Apr. 22.
